Navotas Polytechnic College strongly advises the following precautions to ensure your safety and well-being during this period of extreme heat:
1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty. It is advisable to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Avoid alcoholic and caffeinated beverages, as they can contribute to dehydration.
2. Protect Yourself from the Sun: Apply sunscreen with a high SPF rating to exposed skin and wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, or umbrella to protect your face and eyes from harmful UV rays.
3. Avoid Strenuous Activities: Minimize outdoor activities that require physical exertion, especially during the hottest parts of the day (10 AM to 4 PM). If you must engage in outdoor work or exercise, take frequent breaks in the shade and drink plenty of water.
4. Wear loose-fitting and light-colored clothing: Loose-fitting clothing accelerates air circulation, and light-colored clothing will reflect more light and heat. As a result, these will keep your body more relaxed and comfortable.
